  • What a beautiful little spot! the girl & the dog easily is a top choice for any occasion. I came here to celebrate my birthday with a group of 8 of us and our experience was wonderful. Our server was attentive, the food and drinks came out promptly, and everything tasted spectacular! I would recommend putting in a reservation as this place can be quite popular and in high demand.

  • My group and I had an absolutely wonderful and truly memorable experience dining at The Girl & The Fig recently! From the moment we walked in, the setting captivated us. The atmosphere was great; it's charming, cozy, inviting, and simply perfect for a relaxing dinner. The rustic yet elegant French-countryside decor immediately sets a delightful tone, making it feel like a true escape from the everyday hustle. The lighting was soft, and the overall vibe contributed immensely to a special night out. We began our meal on a high note by ordering the puréed potato soup. Given that it was a cool night, this dish seriously hit the spot. It was beyond comforting, rich, velvety, and incredibly creamy without being heavy. The depth of flavor was surprising for such a seemingly simple soup. It was the ideal starter to warm us up. For the main courses, we sampled a couple of their excellent offerings. The chicken thighs were outstanding. They were perfectly cooked, incredibly tender seasoned beautifully, and the meat was incredibly succulent. It's easy for chicken to be unremarkable, but this was a dish to remember. One of our companions chose the turkey panini special, and they raved about it, calling it delicious and perfectly constructed with high-quality ingredients and a lovely side. A standout element that often gets overlooked was the simple but impeccable artisan bread served to the table. We all agreed it was fantastic; a crusty exterior giving way to a soft, flavorful interior, perfect for soaking up every last bit of flavor from our plates. The quality of the ingredients, even in the simplest offerings, shone through. The service staff were attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and struck that perfect balance of being present without hovering. Overall, it was a truly memorable evening defined by excellent food and a lovely setting. The Girl & The Fig is more than just a restaurant; it’s a wonderful dining destination that gets everything right. We left already planning our next visit. Highly recommend!

  • I made a reservation on OpenTable but arrived 30 minutes late, so our table was no longer available. Luckily, we were able to sit at the bar, which turned out to be a great experience. The bartender was incredibly kind and welcoming—she walked us through the menu and offered thoughtful recommendations. We started with two glasses of wine, a mocktail, duck mousse, and sourdough bread with butter and salt to share. For entrées, we ordered the duck confit, the bone-in schnitzel, and a French omelette. The schnitzel is an absolute must—an impressive, thick-cut pork chop that was perfectly crunchy with a flavorful sauce on top. The duck confit was tender and well-prepared, while the French omelette was delicately presented with ham folded inside. To finish, we shared the warm cookie with a milkshake, which was the perfect ending to the meal. The food was delicious across the board, and the lively, bustling atmosphere made the lunch even better. I would definitely come back!

  • We stopped into The Girl & The Fig in downtown Sonoma, and what a charming little spot it was! It has that cozy, slightly old-fashioned French bistro feel — the kind of place that instantly makes you slow down and enjoy the moment. The food was absolutely delicious. We started with the cheese plate, which was perfectly curated and paired beautifully with a glass of wine. My friend ordered the tomato risotto — phenomenal, rich, and comforting without being heavy. I had the fish, and it was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The service was excellent — friendly, attentive, and relaxed in the best way. You could tell the staff really enjoys what they do. We didn’t have a reservation but lucked out with two seats at the bar (which turned out to be the best view in the house). That said, definitely make a reservation if you’re planning to go — this place fills up fast, and for good reason. Overall, it’s a wonderful little French gem in the heart of Sonoma — quaint, delicious, and full of charm. Highly recommend!

  • Went to the girl & the fig for dinner with my family. Immediately got seated and taken care of. What made our experience here 5 starts were truly the kindness and hospitality of the staff. One of the entrees came in very late but the manager was very understanding and kind and fixed the issue in no time. On top of that, the food was excellent, especially the fish. The desserts were delicious - crème brûlée was the favorite! Highly recommend coming here if you’re in downtown Sonoma.

  • This restaurant is conveniently located near Sonoma Plaza, and parking was relatively easy to find. We ordered the fig and arugula salad, duck confit, and wild flounder meunière, and all three dishes were excellent. The duck confit and flounder were especially tender and full of flavor. After a full day of wine tasting, we didn’t have room to try the cocktails or desserts—but that just gives us a reason to come back next time. The service and restaurant ambiance were also good. Our waitress was attentive and checked in with us regularly. One small but disappointing surprise was a so-called “staff fee” of $3.92 listed on the final check. There was no explanation provided, and I chose not to ask at the time so as not to spoil an otherwise pleasant experience. Still, it was not a welcome surprise.

  • Very solid brasserie in downtown Sonoma. Generous portions and lively atmosphere for good price point. Recommend the radishes with anchovy butter, steak tartare, moules frites. Also enjoyed the deviled eggs and the flounder meunier.

  • On our 33 Sister week in Sonoma CA we had an awesome meal here. Fried green tomatoes, Smoked Trout, Olives, Mussels, cheese board, scallops, schnitzel, Steak tartar, Risotto. All fantastic. Rich flavors. Our server Liberty was attentive, friendly, always smiling and accommodating our one vegan sister. Wish we could stay and come back. Highly recommended.
